International qualifications in English language


There are many different qualifications in English for speakers of other languages.
Well-known British qualifications in English as a second or foreign language include the Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English), the Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), the Cambridge CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and IELTS (International English language Testing System).
IELTS is accepted as evidence of ability in English language for entry to British Universities, although the score required may vary for different university courses.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a widely known US qualification.
